Daniels to visit Ohio State today

Columbus (Ohio) Brookhaven linebacker Alex Daniels says he is still committed to Minnesota, but that doesn't mean Ohio State has given up and ended their recruiting efforts for this central-Ohio standout.

"They came to my school today," Daniels said on Tuesday night. "(Ohio State assistant) Coach Fickell came. He said he wanted to talk to me about the benefits after college of going to Ohio State. He came to my basketball game too.

"I told him I was sure about my commitment to Minnesota. He was cool with that.

"He wants me to come in (today) at noon and talk to some players, him, and coach Tressel. I'm going to."

The 6-foot-3 and 220 pound Daniels, the No. 11 "athlete" prospect in the Rivals.com player rankings and the No. 5 prospect in the state of Ohio, said he is going to meet with the OSU coaches and players as a courtesy and out of respect to Fickell. But obviously the Ohio State coaching staff is hoping that perhaps the meeting will give Daniels at least something to ponder.
