Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln earned their third state title in school history on Saturday with a 17-14 victory over Seffner (Fla.) Armwood. For senior wide receiver Keondrick Daniels, he was just glad to prove the pundits wrong while hoisting the state championship in his final career prep game.
"Everybody doubted us," Daniels said. "We talked about this last night. It came from everybody, all of my team's heart, that if you don't believe in yourself then you are going to lose. It all starts in the heart. I love my team.
"I have never felt this good before," Daniels added. "It is special. If it wasn't for our coaches pushing us every day, if it wasn't for them then we wouldn't be here."
On a day where offense was tough to come by for the Trojans, senior wide receiver Keondrick Daniels had two receptions for 37 yards.
Now, with his senior season concluded, Daniels will turn his attention towards his recruitment. It is a process he is not rushing.
"I am waiting until February to decide," Daniels said. "I am going to take some visits in January - Iowa State, FIU, and Middle Tennessee State."
So far, Daniels has hit the road to check out one school - Connecticut - and came away very impressed by Randy Edsall's program.
"Connecticut is still in the picture," Daniels said. "It was a real good trip up there. I had fun. They showed me everything. I really loved it."
With a little over six weeks before ink meets paper, Daniels remains wide open with regards to his lists of finalists.
"I don't have a leader right now," Daniels said. "I am just going to talk things over with my mom and makes whatever decision I decide to do."
Daniels finished his senior season with 40 receptions for 555 yards and six touchdowns.
