Daniel relieved by injury news

Jacob Daniel was pleasantly surprised to receive news on Tuesday that a knee injury he sustained over the weekend was only a hyper-extension and not something more serious like ligament damage.
Daniel, a four-star USC commit from Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North, was especially sensitive to knee issues since he missed time last season and basically all off-season recovering from that kind of injury he sustained during his junior season.

This was the other knee, and much better news, so Daniel is relieved it's only a hyper-extension which should sideline him for just a few weeks.
"I can't even describe how happy I am that it's a hyper-extension and nothing else," Daniel said.
"I thought I did it all over again. It was pretty similar to the same situation that happened last year."
Rated as the ninth-best defensive tackle and the No. 95 prospect in the 2015 class by Rivals.com, Daniel had an MRI done Monday and the results were available early Tuesday. That's when Daniel learned he dodged a bullet with the knee injury.
The four-star believes he will only be out a few weeks and then should be able to return for the tail end of his senior season.
"I'll be right back out there," Daniel said. "It's nothing too major. It's just a matter of the swelling going down and probably a week of running to get back in shape."
The Fresno Clovis North standout has been committed to USC since mid-May and it looks like he's locked in with the Trojans. Daniel is planning no other official visits and he's planning to take his USC trip sometime in January with some other pledges.
"I'm going to go the same week that Noah (Jefferson) and Roy (Hemsley) go, probably sometime in January," Daniel said.
"That's it. My recruiting is done pretty much."
