Dancel will head West

After his official visit to New Mexico in December, athlete Zach Dancel of Olney (Md.) Our Lady of Good Counsel had a great deal to think about. Yesterday, after a visit from the Lobos coaching staff, Dancel decided to pull the trigger and commit.
Dancel, 6-foot-0 and 195 pounds, first discussed his official visit to New Mexico.

"I went up there, met the coaches and got to see the campus and the facilities," said Dancel. "They are upgrading the facilities and those should turn out real nice. Just the comfort I had with the coaches felt right."
After a month of internal debate, a visit from the coaching staff solidified his decision.
"Coach Barlow came over, and I had my time to think it over so I made my decision so I could start helping out on recruiting over here on the East and get some more guys," said Dancel.
Even with the distance from Maryland to New Mexico, Dancel's parents are fully supportive of his decision.
"My parents were totally for the commitment," said Dancel, who cancelled his scheduled official visit to Illinois set for this weekend.. "They agreed with my decision and they were always there for me and would have agreed with whatever my choice would have been."
Finally, Dancel discussed his senior season at Good Counsel.
"It went real well," he said. "We ended up winning the WCAC against DeMatha 42-3. In the beginning of the season I only played quarterback, and then the second half of the season I also played safety. I was able to come up with some pretty big plays."
