Dancel lands BCS offer

Olney (Md.) Our Lady of Good Counsel athlete Zach Dancel took his first official visit this past weekend. The 6-foot-0, 192-pounder took a trip to Georgia Tech over the weekend and then followed that up with a BCS scholarship from a different school today.
"The visit went really well," he said. "I got up there and met all the coaches. They took me around the campus and I saw what they had to offer me, it's a really great school and the coaches are real good to meet, I liked it a lot.
"I didn't get the offer from them, but they let me know that since I started playing safety towards the end of the year, that's what got they are recruiting me for. They already have 16 commitments and are taking five more and have 29 offers out. They let me know they can't do anything because it's a numbers game, but if people starting committing elsewhere then I'm their guy. They'll keep watching me in January."

What did he think of Georgia Tech?
"It was a really nice school, I liked it a lot," he said. "I hung out with my former teammate Louis Young, he showed me what Georgia Tech has to offer. It was fun, Louis is really fun to be with and I had a great time.
"The coaches are really good coaches, they won the ACC Championship last year, so they know what they are doing."
From here, Dancel plans to take at least two more officials.
"I'm probably going to go to New Mexico this weekend and after the winter break Illinois on January 21st, both are officials," he said. "Illinois just offered me today. That's a really nice school up there. I went for camp and I got to see the campus, I loved it up there. I just like the feel I had up there, but I didn't really get to go around that much."
With visits coming, the two-star prospect hopes to see a few things on these visits.
"I'm just trying to figure out where I'm going to fit in best, where the education will be good and the coaches are in a good situation."
Dancel led Good Counsel to a WCC championship after accounting for 28 touchdowns at quarterback and posting three interceptions in five games at safety along with two forced fumbles.
Dancel will participate in the Crab Bowl and the Chesapeake Bowl in the coming weeks.
