Dallas QB Challenge: Top Performers

CEDAR HILL, Texas -- The Rivals Quarterback Challenge Presented by Under Armour saw over 85 quarterbacks compete in a series of drills in front of coaches and analysts. While our unique scoring system creates a competitive atmosphere, the scoreboard is just one aspect of our evaluation of the prospects' performance.
And while Rondle Johnson was outstanding in winning the competition over the other six players who advanced to the finals, our analysts take a bigger-picture view when evaluating top performers. Here are the day's finest quarterbacks in our eyes.

Recruiting wrap: Patterson is committed to the Ole Miss Rebels.
Performance: Patterson started a bit rusty, but he picked things up quick. His accuracy was off early, but he settled in, especially down the stretch. He threw the deep ball with ease and accuracy. He put the ball deep with a flick of his wrist. He also put the ball in the area while throwing on the run. He did miss the finals after his slow start, but it was easy to see just what has made him such a highly regarded prospect.

DQB
Lowell Narcisse (2017)
St. James (La.) St. James
Recruiting wrap: Narcisse holds offers from LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Illinois, Tulane and Southern Miss. He hopes to visit Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Clemson this spring, and he does not claim any favorites.
Performance: Narcisse definitely looks the part. He is known for his athleticism, but showed he was more than a strong arm, quick feet and explosiveness. He is still developing as a quarterback, but he spun the ball as well as anyone and took home the Perfect Spiral Award for his work.
4
DQB
Rondle Johnson
Houston (Texas) Houston Christian
Recruiting wrap: Johnson has received some interest from Kansas State and San Diego State but has been flying under the radar on the recruiting front.
Performance: Johnson came ready to put in work, and he did just that as he left with top honors at the Rivals QB Challenge: Dallas. He earned an invitation to Baltimore for the finals of the Rivals Quarterback Challenge, and he did it by closing strong in the finals of the Dallas camp. His accuracy was on target and he also put the long ball right where it needed to be for the win.
5
PQB
Charlie Brewer (2017)
Austin (Texas) Lake Travis (2017)
Recruiting wrap: Brewer has received interest from TCU and Oklahoma State, but the recruiting process is just beginning for the Lake Travis quarterback.
Performance: Brewer was on target and threw with good velocity. He finished the opening round of competition in the No. 2 position before falling back in the finals, but that does not diminish his performance by any means. He showed a very nice arm and he was quick to make decisions.
6
DQB
Avery Davis (2017)
Cedar Hill (Texas) Cedar Hill
Recruiting wrap: Davis has received an offer from Kansas, and Auburn has also shown interest at this early point in the recruiting process.
Performance: Davis showed why Cedar Hill coach Joey McGuire is excited about the future of his Longhorns. Athletic and polished as a passer, Davis was able to throw equally well whether he was on the run or in the pocket, and he was definitely at the top among the younger competitors.
7
DQB
Keon Howard
Laurel (Miss.) Laurel
Recruiting wrap: Howard holds offers from Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Southern Miss. He has received interest from Alabama and Auburn, and he wants to make a decision after spring. Right now he admits Louisville would be at the top of his list.
Performance: There was not a guy with a stronger arm at this event. Howard's accuracy and consistency were off at times, but he definitely showed a big gun. He put the ball out there with some velocity, and when he was on, he was among the best. His deep ball made him the easy choice for the Rocket Arm Award.
8
PQB
Jack Walker (2017)
Madison (Miss.) Madison Central
Recruiting wrap: Walker has an offer from Miami and interest has arrived from Tennessee, Alabama and Florida.
Performance: Walker has some nice size and was a strong competitor from beginning to end. He kept the ball high and had a quick release. However, his accuracy on the run is what really stood out, and he was able to take home the Mobile Marksman Award for his work.
9
PQB
Brayden Garrett (2018)
Mustang (Okla.) Mustang
Recruiting wrap: Garrett has not received any recruiting interest to this point, but his recruiting process is in the very beginning stages. He plans to attend camps this summer.
Performance: The youngest person on the list actually beat out his older brother, Chandler Garrett, for a spot on the top performer list, and he was the youngest competitor in the finals. He is not the biggest guy, but he has some nice size and put plenty of zip on the ball.
10
PQB
Jordan Barlow
Van Buren, Ark.
Recruiting wrap: Barlow has received interest from Marshall, Louisville, North Texas, Bucknell and several Ivy League programs. He also received an invitation to SMU's Junior Day.
Performance: Barlow was solid throughout the day, and he also closed well. He entered the finals at the No. 6 spot and finished No. 4. He put some good air under his deep ball and was able to get the ball out of his hands quickly.
11
PQB
Breylin Smith
Conway (Ark.) Conway
Recruiting wrap: Smith has received an offer from Central Arkansas and is receiving interest from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Memphis and Texas. He plans to visit Arkansas and Oklahoma State in the spring.
Performance: Smith had a bit of an up-and-down performance, but he was able to make his way to the finals. He entered the finals in the seventh spot and showed he had what it took to get the deep ball out there.
