Dallas DE racks up first offer

Richardson (Texas) Pearce defensive end Rush Hughes has been looking for his first official scholarship offer to come through, and the good news for the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder is that the wait is over.
"Coach (Mason) Miller from New Mexico State e-mailed me and said that an offer was coming in the mail," Hughes said.

"He also told me that their defensive coordinator liked the way I play and they think I could be a very good outside linebacker in their 3-4 defense."
Hughes hopes that the offer is one of many to come in the future. Arkansas, Iowa, Purdue, Texas A&M and SMU have also been linked with him.
Before he started rushing passers, Hughes rushed the football as a running back. As he grew, the shift to defense became a natural move. His best-ever 40-yard dash time is 4.77 seconds, which he ran as a 190-pound back. The good news is he has maintained regular 4.8-second times in the 40, despite adding 40 pounds.
