Dallas DE adds first offer

Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff defensive end Jacquies Smith has become the second 2008 prospect on his high school team to pick up a Big 12 scholarship offer.
Baylor, who has also offered Smith's teammate Kydarian Wilkins, sent an offer to the sleeper defensive end who is watching his stock rise.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Smith is also hearing from several other schools according to coach Chris Gilbert.
"Baylor offered Jacquies two weeks ago," Gilbert said. "Texas A&M has not offered him yet, but they're looking at him and seem to be waiting right now. I'm getting some stuff from Wisconsin and I'm dropping them some film in the mail as well."
Gilbert says he's not surprised by the offer from the Big 12 school.
"No, it wasn't a surprise at all," Gilbert said. "Once those guys see film on him, I think that they'll really start to come in. He's 6-4, 220, and has a lot of upside. He runs track and also plays basketball. Everybody is looking for defensive ends and corners, so I think he'll continue to get a lot of interest."
"The coaches that know about him all just want to see his film."
