Dallas DB ready to lead

Playing for one of the most well-known high school programs in the state of Texas, Dallas (Texas) Carter defensive back Jeremy Watts knows that the expectations for seniors are very high. While he considers himself one of those going into this fall, he also knows that he can always work harder to get noticed.
Watts, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound corner may not have had an interception but he was aggressive in run support with close to 40 tackles and a fumble recovery that he'll never forget.

"Yeah, there was a ball I recovered that I took back for a score on defense," Watts said. "This year it's going to be different for us. We don't have as many big cats on the offensive line or "Crab" (Michael Crabtree) at quarterback. We'll probably be overlooked this year, but I'd say we'd be the ones that have the chance at a state run."
There were some chances for Watts to shine on offense too at running back, but his time on defense through most of his career changed that to a more permanent spot.
"My whole time playing football, I always was a defensive player to start," Watts said. "This year I was playing it and it just got fun. It's all on your shoulders out there. Whatever happens is on you. You can win or lose the game."
The flood gates have opened on recruiting mail from college programs. Oklahoma, Iowa State, SMU, LSU, Alabama, Duke, Colorado State, and Texas A&M are sending mass amounts, though no offers have come his way just yet.
Watts gives Oklahoma, SMU, and LSU the nod for sending the most mail. One of those is leading the pack as his initial favorite.
"I'd say LSU is up there," Watts said. "I don't know what it is, but when I see that purple and gold on television I want to be in it."
SMU, Alabama, and Texas A&M have all sent junior day invites but he's not sure which ones he'll be making just yet.
"I don't know if I can get to SMU or Alabama, but I'm trying to make it to A&M," Watts said. "I've got track and that kind of keeps me busy right now."
Watts was an all-district selection as a junior.
