Dade County lineman is willing to wait

Hialeah (Fla.) Miami Lakes Mike Alvarez is possible the top prep offensive lineman in Dade County. The 6-foot-2 and 295 lineman has four solid offers; however he’s willing to holdout for his childhood favorite. How long will it take?
“I just finished up at the Miami football camp on Sunday,” Alvarez said. “I talked with Offensive Line Coach Art Kehoe for about 30 minutes after the camp. He’s very interested in me. Kehoe told me that he wanted to watch me play live during the season for three games before he decided to offer me or not. If Miami does offer, I’ll most likely commit the next day.”

Alvarez told FlaRecruiitng.com that he also likes Auburn Florida, Florida State, Rutgers, and North Carolina State.
“I went to the Auburn camp recently and like them a lot,” Alvarez said. “Ron Zook and Red Anderson (Florida) have been by my school. Jimmy Heggins (Florida State) came by my school also, and he told me that he likes my first step. Florida State likes me at defensive tackle, and Miami and Florida like me at center/guard.”
Alvarez has been offered in writing by Auburn, Iowa, and North Carolina State. He has a verbal offer from Rutgers.
