D.C. stud has 15 offers

Junior To Watch: Donte Herrod
School: Washington (D.C.) HD Woodson
Position: Strong Safety and Wide Receiver
Size and speed: Herrod is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.
Honors: Herrod was given All-DC honors.
Statistics: As a strong safety Herrod recorded 225 total tackles, of which 150 were solo. He also intercepted four passes.
Favorite schools: Ohio State, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Colorado, Virginia, Georgia
Skinny: Herrod is a tackling machine at strong safety and may be one of the top players in the entire nation for 2004.
"I've got about 15 offers now," said Herrod, who is drawing interest from some of the nation's top programs. "All of my favorites have offered and I'm considering all of them equally now. I grew up watching Michigan and Ohio State a lot, and they're in there."
While Herrod is also a stud at receiver, he expects to be recruited primarily at safety.
"Safety is definitely my best position and that's where most schools want me to play. I feel really natural there. I'm a very aggressive player, and on defense I'm really all over the field. My physical play sets me apart from a lot of players."
For a player Herrod's size, he has excellent speed, running the 40-yard dash in a legit 4.4 seconds. He runs the 200 in track, and excels there as well.
Herrod is not sure if he'll camp anywhere this summer.
