D.C. athlete headed to PAC 10

One offer was all that Washington (D.C.) Dunbar athlete/quarterback Stadford Brown needed before he committed. The 6-foot-1, 173-pounder is headed west.
"Stadford committed to Oregon State," said Dunbar head coach Craig Jeffries. "They were the first and only school to offer him and I can't understand it. A lot of local schools said they liked him, but were concerned by his size. OSU said he's the perfect fit at quarterback for them."

Brown was also being recruited by Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Syracuse and others but jumped at the OSU offer.
"He went out there for a five-day contact camp and really impressed them," said Jeffries. "But he already had an offer before that. They loved him on film and knew he was only 16-years-old and is still growing."
As a junior, Brown passed for 1,800 yards and 19 touchdowns. His coach feels that OSU sees something that other schools are going to regret missing.
"He's a natural leader," Jeffries said. "Not a vocal kid, but he never gets nervous or panics. Sometimes I'd like him to get a bit more nervous, but he always tells me 'Coach, we'll get it done'. He's a pure quarterback and should be 6-foot-4 before all is said and done. OSU is getting a terrific player."
