Cyclones pick up big verbal

An in-home visit with one of his favorite schools sealed the deal for three-star Lakeland (Fla.) George Jenkins running back Tyease Thompson tonight.
“I’m sitting here with the coaches right now, and I’m glad to say I’m committed to Iowa State,” he said. “They’re real excited right now. We all are.

“We had a great meeting with them tonight, me and my family. They met all of our requirements for what I’m looking for in a school, so I decided it was time to make my choice.”
Thompson (5-11, 180, 4.4) was also considering LSU, Pittsburgh, UConn and South Florida among his top schools. He was scheduled to be in Baton Rouge this weekend to visit the Tigers, but will no longer take that trip.
“I’m not going to take any more visits,” he said. “I’m solid with my decision.”
What were the key factors?
“My relationship with the coaches, a good opportunity for playing time and the academic environment,” Thompson said. “It was a great situation for me.”
As a senior, Thompson rambled for 2,054 yards and 29 touchdowns.
