Cushing still torn between four

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic linebacker Brian Cushing thought this would be a little easier. He figured that when he was 24 hours from signing a letter of intent with the school of his choice, he'd at least know what school that was going to be. Now as the date gets closer by the hour, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker is as confused as ever.

"It's something me and my family had hoped to figure out last night, but we didn't have any luck," said Cushing. "We talked about it for awhile, but didn't come to a conclusion. Southern Cal and Miami offer me a chance to play for a national title, Boston College offers immediate playing time and the ability to stay close to home and Florida is still in there as well. I wish I could choose two schools or three."

Cushing broke down even more what he likes about each school...

"Miami told me I could be a starter by game three next season, but they haven't started a lot of true freshman so I'm not sure about that. I liked it a lot better than I thought I would down there and fit in well. I like the coaches a lot and Miami puts every linebacker in the NFL. They're also away from home but not too far away.

"Southern Cal is starting a dynasty and to be part of that would be great. They're really far away which is a drawback, but if I'm going to leave home, why not go to the best team in the nation? They also said I could play very early, but I know they have depth at linebacker. If USC was located in New Jersey, I probably would have committed by now.

"Boston College is close to home and they proved that they'll play freshmen linebackers last year with Brian Toal. My dad really loves BC and would like me to go there also and my family and friends would be able to see me play. I'd also be able to get back home easily."

"Florida has a lot of the things that the others have -- they are a great program, not too far away from home and will compete for a national title. There aren't a lot of negatives there."

Cushing is set to announce his decision on ESPNews on Wednesday at 4:50PM EST. Will he be ready?

"Can I say I'm committing to....I don't know where?" he laughed. "I'll be ready but I'll have a bag full of gear for each team. As of right now, I have no clue where I'm going."
