Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic linebacker Brian Cushing has set his first two official visits. Where will he be heading and who else is in the running for a trip?
"I've set tentative dates with Southern Cal and with Miami," said the 6-foot-4, 216-pounder. "Southern Cal looks like it will be on Dec. 17 and Miami will be Dec. 10. Those could change, but those are what I am thinking right now. I also know I'll visit Virginia after the New Year in January. I just don't have that date set yet."
So who else is on the list for official visits?
"Penn State, Boston College, Ohio State, Oklahoma or Rutgers," said Cushing, who is the No. 26 player in the country. "Penn State looks good for one and I'm not sure who will be the fifth. I know I can visit Rutgers and BC unofficially whenever I want, so maybe Ohio State or Oklahoma."
There were recent rumors that Cushing had committed to Rutgers.
"I heard those actually while I was at church," he laughed. "It's crazy. I have no idea where that came from. There was also one a little while back that I committed to Virginia. These things start and just get rolling I guess."
Last time we spoke with Cushing, Virginia was his leader. Is that still the case?
"Yes, they've been recruiting me the hardest and I really loved my visit down there," he said. "But I'm going to wait until the end to decide. I'll take my two officials in December and then three more in January, so I'm not in a rush."
Cushing will take an unofficial visit to Maryland this weekend.
"I want to check it out because my good friend and teammate, Isaiah Williams, is going there," he said. "I'm not sure if it will put Maryland in the mix or not. I don't know what day I'm going just yet."
