Cushing names his top eight

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic linebacker Brian Cushing now has over 50 scholarship offers. Cushing, a five-star prospect, has named eight schools that lead for his services. What schools made his list?
"Virginia, Miami, Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Boston College, Florida State, and Penn State are the schools that I am focusing on right now. They are the schools that most likely my top five will come from when I narrow my list," said the 6-foot-4, 221-pound linebacker who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds.

Although Cushing has not named a leader, one school has set the bar in terms of his recruiting.
"Virginia is recruiting me the hardest. I have a few friends that have already verballed to them. I consider Eugene Monroe and Mike Brown good friends but my decision will be my own."
Earlier this year, Cushing said that he would likely commit on or around Signing Day. Is that still the case?
"I have already seen Virginia and Penn State. I am going to Boston College this week. I am going to Southern Cal next week and I hope to get down to Miami later this summer. These unofficial visits are going to crucial for me. I hope to narrow my list to five schools by the start of my season and set some official visits. I am not sure if I will take all five at this point. I might want to decide early."
Cushing is a standout athlete and he is being recruited as such.
"I have offers to play wide receiver, safety, and linebacker. I really don't have a preference on which position I will play in college, but I if I am going to play on Sundays, I think my future is at linebacker."
Last season, Cushing racked up 120 tackles, 10 sacks, and seven interceptions.
