Cushing Has West Coast Leader

The Nike camp at Virginia is beginning to shape up as one of the best we've done in the East Coast in recent years. One player who recently committed to the camp and should be considered as one of the top linebackers in the country is Bergen Catholic's (N.J.) Brian Cushing.
Cushing was a 1st team All-State and Student Sports Junior All-American a year ago. He totaled 120 tackles, 18 for loss, 10 quarterback sacks and picked off seven passes a year ago. He also saw time at receiver catching 13 balls for 456 yards and seven touchdowns but will definitely be recruited on the defensive side of the ball.

On the recruiting front, Cushing is off to a strong start and currently has offers from Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, Stanford and Michigan State and is also hearing from Ohio State, UCLA, Florida, Maryland and Virginia Tech.
"Stanford is my top school followed by Michigan, Ohio State, Boston College, USC and Miami," Cushing said. "Playing time will be a big factor in my decision but I'm not looking to commit anywhere early. Right now, I'm just working hard and it's my goal to become the top linebacker in the country."
In addition to the Nike Camp, Cushing said he plans to camp at Michigan, Boston College and Ohio State. Academically, he's carrying a 3.3 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year.
