Curtis keeps on the go for camps

Moore, Okla. safety Ted Curtis has kept busy this summer with a busy camp schedule.
The three top stops for the 6-foot 1, 220-pound Curtis were Ohio State, Oklahoma and the Nike camp at Texas A & M.

“The Nike camp was really good,” Curtis said. “I think I turned some heads down there. I’ve gotten letters from a lot more schools since the Nike camp.”
Those schools include a few new additions to his list, including Stanford, Iowa State, Northwestern, Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri.
The performance at the Nike camp turned the heads of the coaches.
“There was a lot of competition,” he said. “I think I really surprised some of those receivers who didn’t think a big guy would be that quick. You know how you get into a zone when everything feels right? That’s how it was for me at that camp.”
Curtis has been working out on his own this summer.
“I had personal goals for myself on my testing this summer,” Curtis said. “I’ve reached most of those. I got my vertical up to 36 inches and my 40 time down to 4.45. I want to play at 215 pounds this season so I need to lose a little weight, I’m still at 220.”
Despite more schools having interest, no scholarship offers have come.
“None yet,” Curtis said. “I get a lot of generic statements like ‘we’re here and we want you, stay in touch’. Some have also said they want to see how the season goes.”
Curtis has the home-state Sooners as his top choice right now.
“After Oklahoma, it is probably Stanford, Iowa State, Ohio State and Baylor.”
Curtis has already qualified with a 4.0 GPA and a 24 on his ACT test.
