Curry a hot target

Shreveport (La.) Evangel 2017 quarterback Connor Curry has been working hard in the offseason and he is excited about the direction the Evangel offense has taken this spring.
He has no shortage of weapons with Tennessee commit Corey Henderson and 2017 receivers Tanner Ash and Johnathan Jones leading the way for a strong group of receivers. The ball has been flying around, and Curry likes what he has seen.

"We're looking real good for next year," Curry said. "Our offense is really clicking now. We've changed a whole lot now. We've really become more fast paced. We're basically a hurry up offense now."
College coaches have liked what they have seen from Curry. The Clemson Tigers extended an early offer and they have maintained contact. Curry also holds an offer from Southern Miss, who has quickly made a strong impression.
"I actually love everything they have going on down there," Curry said. "The campus is really beautiful. I loved it. I loved all the coaches I talked to there. They seemed like real nice guys and people I could see myself being with one day. It just seemed like my kind of atmosphere. I felt like I fit in.
"They took me on a tour of the campus, just one-on-one, and showed me around. It was real nice. The football field, they showed me where Brett Favre sits and watches the games, and they showed me all the new stuff they're doing there. It's close to Louisiana too.
"Coach Monken, he coached our receivers coach. He coached him in college and the staff knew a whole bunch of guys at Evangel. They all knew our head coach and played against them in high school or something like that."
SMU head coach Chad Morris, who offered Curry while he was the offensive coordinator at Clemson, has also kept in touch. The Mustangs have not offered but they do plan to attend Evangel Christian's spring game and Curry has already visited SMU's Dallas campus.
"I actually went down there and watched a practice. I loved everything," Curry said. "I sat in on a quarterback meeting and took a tour of their campus. They showed me around to everything. They're doing a whole lot of new stuff too. He's turned that program around. It's a real nice school and it's close too."
Curry has also received interest from Oklahoma, Alabama, and ULM, and coaches from Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State have stopped by to check him out this spring.
He is taking in his options right now, and this summer he has a few plans in mind.
"I for sure want to go to a Clemson camp. Maybe a Southern Miss (camp) because I really loved everything over there," Curry said. "I want to go to Texas A&M and Oklahoma. I'd really like to try and make an Alabama camp as well. I just have to see a schedule and see how it all is going to work out. It all goes so fast. It's like a last minute decision when you decide to go to one."
Curry completed 124 of 221 passes for 1,792 yards, 22 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions on his way to first-team all-district honors in 2014. He also rushed 56 times for 251 yards and a touchdown.
