Cumber lands Colorado offer

Christian Cumber might only be a sophomore, but his youth didn't prevent him from being a defensive leader for Denver (Colo.) Mullen this past season.
The Class of 2017 cornerback was rewarded on Wednesday afternoon when he landed his first scholarship offer from Colorado.

"It's really big for me and my family," Cumber said. "I'm extremely thankful for this opportunity. I was really surprised. I was not expecting it at all."
The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect has also been hearing from Colorado State, though the recent coaching change there has made things a bit blurry. With the Buffaloes, he has familiarity as well as proximity.
"I really like the fact that it's a hometown school with and up-and-coming program," Cumber said.
Cumber intends to stay busy this offseason, with stops at Texas and UCLA on the initial agenda. He has planned to compete at those schools' respective camps.
"Those have been childhood dream schools, and I would love to go to either of them," Cumber said.
Cumber led Mullen with 107 total tackles, eight pass breakups and also had two interceptions playing free safety. He tacked on 270 kick return yards on special teams.
