Cuba maintains in-state favorites

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The slow start to the recruiting process has obviously not lasted very long for Tyler (Texas) Lee safety Tekerrein Cuba. His total is up to six and he's got two in-state teams leading the rest.
His presence at the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament definitely was another place where Cuba showed his abilities and gave good reason for his early offers. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder is working hard for the season and is giving recruiting a harder look.

"I like A&M and Texas Tech right now," Cuba said. "I just like the defenses of both schools and how aggressive they are. They play like that and that's how I play. I've been to Texas A&M for a visit, but I haven't been to Texas Tech yet. I'm going to try and get out there though."
Cuba says that no definite visits are planned and he's probably going to wait until the end of the school year before deciding.
"I haven't really thought about official visits either yet," he said. "I'm real focused on the season. It's about winning and winning it all."
The 7-on-7 tournament this weekend is a big part of that and Cuba says that it's important not just to win, but improve team chemistry.
"It's big because we come out to these, keep in shape for the fall and we get things clicking with our passing game," he said. "We're really ready to go for this fall."
