CT DE plans summer tour

Norwich (Conn.) Norwich Free Academy defensive end Matt Shaughnessy was supposed to camp at a few places this summer, but ended up taking an unofficial visit to Syracuse and camping at UConn. He plans to see three more schools this August.
"My father and I are planning on taking visits to Wisconsin, Michigan State and Iowa this August," said the 6-foot-6, 210-pounder who also plays tight end. "I'd like to decide before the end of the summer if I can, but if I need official visits I'll take them."

Shaughnessy has offers from Uconn, Indiana and Syracuse while Wisconsin said they will offer once he sees the campus.
"We went to Syracuse for a day in June and were very impressed," he said. "I camped at UConn and tested to see what I could do and I did well. I ran like a 4.6 in the forty and a 4.4-second shuttle. I was going to camp at Wisconsin but didn't get to make it because I'm taking summer classes."
Right now it looks like a six team battle.
"Wisconsin, Syracuse, Uconn and Indiana are all up there because they've all basically offered," he said. "Iowa and Michigan State said they're close to offering. I'd be interested in a few other schools like Notre Dame, USC and Boston College if they were to offer, but I might not wait that long."
As a junior, Shaughnessy estimates he made 50-plus tackles and 10 sacks on defense and caught four passes on offense ("I usually just block."). He was also named all-state.
