CSU lands SoCal DL

Colorado State was able to nab the verbal commitment from defensive tackle/offensive lineman Matt Rupp (6-2, 240, 4.9) from Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic.
Though Rupp was a standout defensive tackle the Rams recruited him to play middle linebacker or defensive end.

Despite having to fight through double teams all season long, Rupp still accounted for 68 tackles, over 12 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and four fumble recoveries.
Rupp benches 295, power cleans 275 and squats 425.
Rupp chose the Rams over other offers from Fresno State, Nevada and Utah. San Diego State was also in the picture.
“I liked the coaching staff and the community,” Rupp said. “I also like the style of defense that Colorado State runs.
Rupp suits up for a school that plays in possibly the toughest conference in Division I CIF football and played his career at a very high level.
Rupp was named lineman of the game in one third of the games he played in for Santa Margarita Catholic. He is the type of player that the Rams have been making their living on since head coach Sonny Lubick took over the program all those years ago.
Solid get for the Rams.
