Crook is back on the market

When a new staff takes over a program, there's never a guarantee that those players that committed to the old staff will be staying in the fold. That's just what happened to former UNLV commitment Jacob Crook as the talented quarterback is now in search of a new home.
Crook, 6-1, 200 pounds from Glendora (Calif.) has been one of our favorite quarterback prospects since we first watched his junior film about this time a year ago. Crook has a strong arm, is very tough and actually played half the season this past year with a torn ACL.

He had early offers from Wisconsin and UNLV and committed to the Rebels and former head coach John Robinson earlier in the season.
"When he decided to step down, I knew this could happen," Crook said. "I got a call from Coach Sanford and he said he wanted to go in a different direction. He was real cool about it and I just told him he had to do what was best for his team and his program. I tripped to UTEP and while I was there, Brandis Dew committed to them. That was kind of a bummer.
"So UTEP has told me they still want me but they want me to grey shirt. I'm not sure about that but it's something I'm considering. I also have an offer from Sacramento State but I really want to go Div I. Right now, I'm just trying to be patient and my coach is calling around a little to see if there is anyone interested. I hope something happens for me and hope someone out there still needs a quarterback."
