Crook in no hurry to decide

Glendora (Calif.) quarterback Jacob Crookhas been one of our favorite quarterbacks ever since his highlite tape arrived at our office last February. We hadn’t even heard of Crook at the time but after just a few plays, we knew the signal caller had big time potential.
Crook, 6-0, 200 pounds doesn’t play for a school that is traditionally known for churning out a lot of high Div I prospects. That’s a big reason, we feel, why so many schools are still sleeping on Crook. He has every tool you could want in a quarterback including a huge arm, quick release, throws a very accurate ball, moves well in the pocket and is tough.

As a junior, Crook threw for 1,596 yards and 13 touchdowns and had a good showing at the NorCal Nike Camp where he was one of the top quarterbacks in a very talent laded group that day. Early offers came in from Wisconsin, UTEP and UNLV and we were also hearing if Kyle Reed went elsewhere, Crook was up next to pick an offer.
“I talked to UNLV last night but that was about it,” Crook said. “Wisconsin has a quarterback committed so they’re basically done. I talked to them and they said they were still going to watch me in case things fell through. UNLV has offered me and Chris Turner so far. I’m really in no hurry to make a decision right now and I’ll wait until Signing Day if I need to.
“At the same time, I know I don’t want to wait so long that I run out of options but I think I’ll have a good season this year and more schools will start recruiting me. I took an unofficial visit to UNLV in the summer and really liked it there. It’s a good school but I just want to have as many options as possible so I’m planning to wait things out right now.”
