Cronk likes the fit at Indiana

After completing a perfect 15-0 senior season, Lafayette (Ind.) Central Catholic offensive lineman Coy Cronk started the process of deciding his college future with an official visit to Indiana.

"This past weekend I went to Indiana and had a great time. It was a lot of fun," Cronk said. "I got to know the coaching staff really well and the players. So, I definitely like Indiana. I came out with a great experience. It didn't raise any questions and I got all my questions answered."
Cronk lives two hours from Indiana's campus and has visited the school several times previously. An official visit, though, afforded him more personal interaction with the people around the program.
"This time I got to really be with the players," Cronk said. "The freshmen players are my age, and I got a chance to get around them and ask questions.
"I stayed with Brandon Knight along with a lot of the freshmen o-linemen. I was probably with 4-5 of them at all times, going on the tour and doing the academic stuff. I think I definitely fit in well. They are good guys, dedicated guys."
There are four more official visits on the academic calendar before National Signing Day, and Cronk is looking to fill each one of those with trips to other schools.
"This weekend I will probably go to Illinois. That's the plan right now," Cronk said. "Overall I'm just going to see about the players, how they feel about Coach (Tom) Brattan, who I'm sure they're going to speak highly of. I know Illinois is a great academic school, and just getting out there to see it first hand, I'm really looking forward to that."
Where Cronk will visit in January is still to be determined. He is weighing new opportunities from Temple and Iowa State after offers from those schools last week.
"As far as Iowa State goes, they had a whole new staff come in," Cronk noted. "The (Toledo) staff had offered me, and as soon as they got to Iowa State they called me pretty much as soon as they got the job. I know Coach (Alex) Golesh, who was at Illinois (previously).
"As far as Temple goes, their offensive line coach and my dad played on the same Wabash (College) football team, so they go way back. Just hearing the stories and that kind of thing is pretty neat."
On Monday Cronk had coaches from Illinois, Temple and Vanderbilt stop by his school or home. He noted that Indiana is definitely a strong contender for his services, but does not have a set list of top schools at this time.
"I'm definitely not a closed book, by any means," Cronk said. "I have a lot of Power Five teams that are recruiting me from months ago, and new Power Five teams coming in. It's just a great process and I'd definitely say I am still open."
The 6-foot-5, 272-pound Cronk is rated as a three-star prospect. He plans to decide which schools to visit in January during his Christmas break.
