Crider looking around despite commitment to Toledo

Anthony Crider’s commitment to Toledo is still relatively new. That doesn’t mean much when it comes to his recruitment, however. The Hookstown (Penn.) South Side High School linebacker never stopped surveying his recruiting options.

Toledo may very well hang on to his commitment until signing day, but it will have to work to do so.

“I’m still looking around,” Crider said. “I want to visit Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and some others. I’m trying to get that offer. I’m really trying to get that Penn State offer.”

But Crider’s decision to keep his options open shouldn’t be confused or indifference toward the Rockets. He chose the school over multiple other offers for a reason, after all.

“I went to a camp, and the entire coaching staff was there,” Crider said. “They were all really cool. I thought it was great that they had me as No. 1 on the linebacker board. I just really liked the entire staff.”

IN HIS WORDS: “At Penn State, they have one more linebacker to take. They are taking three linebackers out of my class, so they have to choose wisely. They say they’re going to keep looking at my film.”

RIVALS REACTION: Crider is as good as gone should he land an offer from Penn State. Toledo has a better chance at fending off most other programs. Crider’s senior season will likely define the direction of his recruitment.
