Crews loses one offer, picks up another

Bainbridge, Ga. offensive lineman Gage Crews was a very hot name early in the recruiting process, picking up an offer from the mighty LSU Tigers. Since that time, things have pretty much hit a plateau for Crews, but that doesn’t mean nothing is going on.
“I still have offers from Southern Miss and Wake Forest, but LSU told me that they don’t have an offer for me anymore,” Crews said. “They said that they have filled up at that position and that they were going to have to pull my offer. I did talk to South Carolina a couple of weeks ago and they offered.”

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Crews runs the 40-yard dash in 5.1 seconds, has a 330-pound bench press, a 400-pound bench press and a 22-inch vertical jump.
“I have been getting calls from Louisville, South Carolina and Tennessee about once a week,” Crews said. “I am going to be going to the Georgia Tech-Miami game in a couple of weeks, but it’s not really for an unofficial visit, my dad just got tickets and we are going to go.”
Crews was named first team all southwest Georgia and was honorable mention all-area as a junior. He has started the final five games of his sophomore and has been a starter ever since.
“So far I have not set up any official visits, but I am going to do that,” Crews said. “I would say that my top three are Auburn, Southern Miss and Georgia Tech. I haven’t heard all that much from Auburn, but I went to camp there this summer and really liked it.”
