For Rivals100 running back Lennon Creer, the season ended in the perfect way – with another state title under his belt.
The 6-foot-1, 202-pound four-star runner Creer and his Tatum, Texas team took care of business this past weekend with a 32-14 win over Littlefield for the Class 2A Division I title for the second consecutive year. Now, all that remains ahead is an appearance in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl and making a decision between several schools vying for his signature.
"It felt good man," Creer said about winning back-to-back state titles. "I had about 214 yards for the game. Playing my last game and winning a state championship, that's all you can ask for. We expected this though. We knew the majority of our team from last year was coming back and we knew we could do it again."
Creer finished the year with around 2,744 yards and 36 touchdowns. At the upcoming all-star game in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Creer just wants to have fun. As for making a decision about recruiting, that will take some time.
"I've got it narrowed down to about four or five schools right now," Creer said. "That's been the same story for a while. It's really Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Texas."
Only two official visits have been taken. Those have been to Oklahoma and Tennessee. So who's next?
"I'm going to set the next up this week," Creer said. "Florida will probably be the one I definitely call to set up. They're playing in the national championship game, they had one of the top recruiting classes in the country last year, and I think they're going to need running backs."
Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Florida have all been in for in-home visits in the last few weeks. Creer says that a visit from coach Bob Stoops was the one he remembers the most.
"He was just telling me about the opportunity they had at Oklahoma," Creer said. "He also talked about how they're going to win games every year and I could come in and compete."
Creer says he doesn't have a definite date for a decision.
