Crawford gets Maydens shoes
Sam Crawford is one of the best junior wide receivers in the state of Texas that no one is talking about. The 6-foot-1 and 190-pound Crawford from Rockwall (Texas) has been a big part of the recent success that his team has found after losing the first three football games of the season.
"It's been going really good," Crawford said. "We had a tough pre-season and now we are undefeated in district. We are 4-3 after losing to Euless Trinity, Mesquite Horn and Denton Ryan. We lost a lot of seniors and I think that those early losses will help us in the long run."

Johnson is one of many offensive weapons for Coach Rodney Webb to utilize, but Crawford may be the best. Seven games in and Crawford is averaging well over 100 yards per game and better than a touchdown a game. Crawford credits his hard work in the off-season for his success this year.
"I am up to over 830 yards receiving and I have scored 10 touchdowns already this season. I worked hard this off-season. I wanted to add size and get faster. I gained 10 to 15 pounds and I got faster."
Despite the big junior year there has surprisingly been very little recruiting attention. That is going to change. He says that he hears consistently from three schools and that after next weekend he does have plans to get out and see a few schools in the coming weeks.
"Not a lot has been going on," Crawford said. "I get a lot of letters from Michigan, Purdue and UCLA. I don't have any offers yet. After next weekend I will start to take some trips. I am planning on going to SMU, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech."
Crawford is a multi-sport athlete for Rockwall and says that after the season he may play another sport, but if he doesn't he will go back to working out. Despite the gains that Crawford saw this off-season he says that he will get back to work in the gym.
"I may play basketball after football like I did last year," Crawford said. "If I don't play basketball I will just go back and workout trying to get bigger and faster. I went to the U.S. Army All-American combine last year and I might go do that again this year. I really don't have any plans like that."
Crawford peaked at the right time this season getting a chance to square off against one of the nation's best cornerbacks. Rockwall faced Sachse (Texas) allowing Crawford to line up opposite Jared Mayden. Mayden issued a challenge for someone to score on him. Do it and take his Nike "The Opening" shoes. Crawford got the shoes.

"I heard about the challenge," Crawford said. "It was the second play of the game and I got the play call that I was looking for. It was cool. Everyone went crazy. He was cool with it."
