Cowboys pick up Texas OL

Castroville (Texas) Medina Valley offensive guard Patrick Hoog had been talking about making a decision soon and that happened on Thursday when he announced his commitment for one Big 12 school.
The 6-foot-4, 293-pounder picked up numerous scholarship offers from schools such as Baylor, Colorado State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Rice and UTEP. It was Oklahoma State that made his final three and ended up receiving his commitment.

"I may have said it before, but the engineering department is very good and I'm majoring in that," Hoog said. "I like their coaches, it's a school on the rise, they have very nice facilties, and it was basically all of that. I kind of like the small town atmosphere as well."
Hoog says that the Cowboys like him at the offensive guard position.
"They said they're going to leave me at guard and not going to move me to tackle," Hoog said. "They didn't really say what year I'd play. They just told me that if I work hard and do what I'm supposed to do, I'll play. That's what I plan on doing."
The talented lineman said that now that his commitment is made, he doesn't plan on looking at any other schools. Hoog says having his decision made is a huge lift off his shoulders.
"It's relieving," he said. "That would be the right way to put it. I'm all finished."
Hoog was a first-team all-district selection on offense and a second-team defensive selection as a junior.
