Cowboys keep Rivals100 WR at home

Tulsa (Okla.) Union four-star wide receiver C.J. Moore is ranked as one of the top 100 prospects in the 2018 class, but his recruitment has generated very little buzz in large part because Moore has stayed out of the spotlight. So, his announcement Monday morning that he had committed to Oklahoma State came as somewhat of a surprise.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The outplay of Moore’s recruitment is less well-documented than maybe any other Rivals100 prospect in this 2018 class, but the Tulsa native gave us a little glimpse in early March when he released a top six of Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and Oregon. According to Moore, though, this came down to Oklahoma State helping him accomplish his life plan, and he explained how they would help him to that.

IN HIS WORDS

“They care about me. They have the resources that I need and coach (Kasey) Dunn in a coach and mentor. It's a huge relief (to make this decision) and I'm not gonna change anything I do.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

The class of 2018 in Oklahoma is loaded, especially at the top. So, for Moore to rank No. 2 in the state says a lot about how we view him as a prospect. At 6-foot-5 he has great height for the position, but he plays the game like a smaller receiver. His ability to get in and out of his breaks, both as a route-runner and also after the catch, make him a playmaker at that outside wide receiver position and we expect him to become a fan favorite in Stillwater very quickly. This is a player who has a chance to make a very big impact very early in his career.
