Covington talks first offer

Seffner (Fla.) Armwood defensive end Allen Covington landed his first offer a little less than a week ago.
"Late last week I got my first offer, it was from Colorado State," Covington said. "I found out from my coach on gameday, last Thursday, that they had offered me."

Since receiving the offer, the 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive lineman has had an opportunity to catch up with an assistant on Steve Fairchild's staff.
"They called me up and we talked," Covington said. "They told me they want to get me up there on campus for a visit. So I am going to go up there on November 11th and check out the campus and all of that."
At this point, Covington doesn't know a great deal about the Rams but hopes to learn a lot when he makes his way onto their campus during his team's upcoming bye week.
"I know a little bit about them, but I haven't researched them that much or anything like that," Covington said. "I really want to find out how their academics are up there. I also want to know how their coaching staff is towards the players. I just want to get a good feel for what it is like up there."
While it has taken a while for Covington to land his first offer, he believes the next one is not far offer.
"I think I am pretty close to getting some more," Covington said. "I am hearing from Middle Tennessee, Bethune-Cookman, and Ohio. Those are the only ones off the top of my head."
Covington said additional visits will wait until after his senior season has concluded. He has no specific timeline for making a decision.
