Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte cornerback Rod Council was supposed to take an official visit to Virginia Tech this weekend and then make a decision by the Shrine Bowl. However, plans have changed.
"He didn't make it," said West Charlotte head coach Peter Gilchrist of his 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback. "The weather stopped the visit, so we're hoping to get there this upcoming weekend. If he can't make it this weekend, he has Shrine Bowl practice and then the game so he wouldn't be able to go until January. I'm not sure if he'd want to wait."
If Council doesn't wait, it looks like Virginia would be the winner of this recruiting battle.
"Right now he's pretty much down to Virginia and Virginia Tech with UVA in the lead," he said. "But he wants to take an official to Tech to answer some lingering questions he has. He'd like to be able to compare official visits."
Council also visited Michigan and Notre Dame, although neither are very high on his list anymore. He is ranked as the No. 19 cornerback in the country by Rivals.com.
