Cougar commit still draws recruiters

Though cornerback/running back Shelton Danzy (5-10, 190, 4.5) from Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach is committed to Washington State it hasn’t stopped colleges from trying to get the ear of the talented cornerback/running back from Seattle.
The athletic and powerful Danzy currently benches 280, squats 460 and has recorded a 34-inch vertical jump.

As a junior, Danzy racked up 58 tackles, three fumble recoveries and three picks.
On offense, Danzy rushed for 720 yards and scored seven touchdowns. Rainier Beach used Danzy as a receiver out of the backfield resulting in 10 catches for 174 yards and one score through the air.
The only written offer was the one the he received from Washington State but Hawai’i and Idaho have offered verbally. If there was to be any interest from Danzy there would be a Fed Ex in the morning from the two schools in the morning.
Boise State, Fresno State, Oregon and Cal are still also showing interest in Danzy.
Danzy played and his Rainier Beach teammates played their first game last weekend and pounded Renton 44-18.
Danzy stood out on both sides of the ball in the win. On offense he rushed for 101 yards on 10 carries and scored one touchdown and on PAT.
On defense Danzy was just as impressive. He tallied up 12 tackles.
Washington State head coach Bill Doba and running back coach Kelly Skipper are the main recruiters for the Cougars.
Doba and Skipper saw him up close when Danzy stood out at the Cougar camp this past summer where he was selected MVP defensive back of the camp while lining up at corner.
The scouting report on Danzy is he’s a physical hard hitting corner. As a matter of fact, Danzy is considered the hardest hitting defensive back in the Evergreen State for the class of 2005.
Another thing to like about Danzy is he’s an honor roll student.
