Couch visits Army

Camp Hill (Pa.) East Pennsboro offensive center Matt Couch took his first official visit this past weekend. The 6-foot-2, 260-pounder made his way to West Point.
"It was my second time up, I went on an unofficial during the summer," he said. "This time I got to know the coaching staff better and see their characteristics. I got a grand tour and they went over the academics more in-depth.

"I first got there and met the new staff and had dinner. Then I talked to my host, Zach Peterson. It was good with him. It was cool to meet someone who was doing both sides, school and football.
"On Saturday I toured the facilities and met the academic people. Then I checked out the dorms."
Before heading out on Sunday, Couch met with the coaches.
"I did sit down with Coach Ellerson," he said. "He talked about what he seems me playing and other odds and ends.
"It was good talking to him. You could definitely see the confidence the whole coaching staff had coming from Cal Poly. They plan to turn it around quick and compete with everyone else."
The trip overall impressed Couch.
"Overall I had a great impression," he said. "I got to see the military side and the 6,000 acres. All the history there and status with George Washington and MacArthur, I could walk in the steps of these great people."
What is next for the two-star prospect?
"In two weeks, January 23rd I'll be taking an unofficial to Navy," he stated. "I'll be going up for the day to meet the academic people and get a more in-depth look. That's the only other visit I have."
With just weeks to go before Signing Day, interest is rising in the No. 29 prospect in the Keystone State.
"Schools are mailing me for film, some I-AA's along with TCU, Marshall and Miami. That's the first I've heard from those schools."
