Cotton updates decision plans

O'Fallon (Ill.) three-star athlete Micquell Cotton had originally planned to announce his college commitment on Friday, but the St. Louis-area prospect has postponed that date a few weeks.
"I decided to move it to next month or in August," Cotton said. "I really haven't had a chance to get around and visit more schools. Even the schools I have offers from, I haven't been to all of them."

The four schools that have offered Cotton are Iowa State, Indiana, Michigan State and Syracuse. He visited both Indiana and Iowa State, with his trip to Ames happening two weekends ago.
"That was my first time down to Iowa State," Cotton said. "I didn't know Iowa State was the way that they were. I got to know a lot about the campus and more about the school. I really enjoyed it and actually have them No. 1 right now."
Indiana comes in a close second to Iowa State on Cotton's list. He visited the Hoosiers this spring and learned how they see him fitting in their defense.
"What I was told is they want me to play safety, but they really like the way I play linebacker," Cotton said. "They said when it is all said and done I would be a safety, but at the same time play up close to the line of scrimmage."
A final decision is being held up by Cotton's desire to see both Michigan State and Syracuse so he can determine where those schools sit in relation to Indiana and Iowa State. The Michigan State visit is likely to happen in the near future.
"I'm thinking after I take my visit to Michigan State, they will be in there as one of my top schools," Cotton said. "I am actually working things out to see when I will be able to get down there for a visit. I want to get down there soon."
Although he is willing to take his recruitment into August, Cotton is hoping to have the commitment made in mid-July.
