Cottam adds new team to list

Germantown, Tenn., tight end Jeff Cottam is one of the most athletic big men in America and he has the offers to prove it. He was in attendance for Saturday nights Auburn-Tennessee game and shared his thoughts on the game.
“That was a pretty rough game I would say,” Cottam said. “I wanted Tennessee to win because of my brother, but Auburn is a good team. The game really wasn’t a lot of fun, but I did like how the Tennessee fans stuck by the team and didn’t give up.”

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound Cottam ran an amazing 4.62 second 40-yard dash at the NIKE training camp in Atlanta. He also ran a 4.28 second shuttle, did 19 reps on the bench press and had a 28-inch vertical jump.
“I also went to the Tennessee-UNLV game earlier in the year,” Cottam said. “I don’t know if I am going anywhere this weekend, but the next weekend I am going to the Tennessee-Ole Miss game. I am probably going to take my official visit to Tennessee the weekend of the Notre Dame game and to Ole Miss on December 10, but neither of those are set in stone yet.”
Cottam was a member of Germantown's Class 5A state championship team as a junior. He caught 14 passes for 160 yards and four touchdowns.
“My list is still pretty much the same with Tennessee, Auburn, Notre Dame and Ole Miss,” Cottam said. “I would say that Alabama is getting in there now and they are in my top five. I will probably take an official visit there as well.”
He has a bench press of 310 pounds and a 395-pound squat. His brother Brad signed with Tennessee in 2003 and the Vols have a good chance to land the younger Cottam as well.
