Cota has productive summer

Chase Cota might only be heading into his sophomore season but the 2018 wide receiver already has an offer from Oregon State and more attention appears to be on the horizon.
Cota, whose father Chad played at Oregon before spending eight years in the NFL, recently visited USC and also camped with Washington this summer as his name has started to make the rounds.

"The Oregon State offer was pretty special because it came so early," Cota said. "I can't wait for more to come. Head coach (Gary) Andersen and the position coach, (Brent) Brennan, are recruiting me, and I've also talked with coach (Dave) Baldwin, the offensive coordinator.
"At Oregon, I've talked to basically the whole staff and I've got a lot of family connection. Both my parents went there, my dad played there and my cousin, Brady Breeze, is committed to play there. It would be pretty hard to turn that down. I've toured the facilities and everything there is nice, but whatever school I like most, that's what I'm going to choose. My family won't force me to stay here."
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wideout from Medford (Ore.) South Medford competed at the Huskies' Rising Stars Camp last month and was impressed with everything the program had to offer.
"I really love that place," Cota said. "The Washington campus and all the facilities match up with Oregon. I know the coaches are great people and with the stadium being right there on the lake, that's pretty cool, too. Coach (Jimmy) Lake, the defensive backs coach, follows me on Twitter and coach (Chris) Petersen told me he likes me."
Before settling into preparations for the upcoming season, Cota took advantage of a family trip to Los Angeles to visit the Trojans.
"My dad knows the defensive coordinator (Justin Wilcox), so we checked it out and got to see their weight room," Cota said. "We toured campus and saw the football facilities; everything was pretty cool. It's definitely a school that I found interesting."
On Wednesday, Cota visited Alabama before wrapping up his summer activities.
Cota had 500 receiving yards and nine touchdowns as a freshman last season.
