Costello reviews Stanford visit

K.J. Costello recently returned from another trip to Stanford as the 2016 four-star quarterback tries to navigate through his recruitment and figure out the winner.
The Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic standout has taken numerous trips to Stanford and went through another important step during his latest visit. USC, Stanford and Michigan are considered the three frontrunners at this point.

"It was awesome," Costello said. "The most important part was I got to sit down for two or three hours and go over the offense, really look at what they're trying to do which is really the most important part for me. I really enjoyed that part.
"I got to hang out with Christian McCaffrey, he was my host, so I got to spend a night with him and really hang out with the guys and get a feel for the locker room. It was definitely a good visit.
"No doubt I could see myself fitting in. The students were pretty cool, too. It's definitely a smaller school feel. It kind of feels like Santa Margarita so I definitely liked it."
Rated as the second-best pro-style quarterback and the No. 25 prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, Costello has worked out at Stanford camp and has now gotten the chance to review the offense. It was basically the last step in his decision-making process with the Cardinal.
"I told them it was the last thing I really needed to see," Costello said.
"I was up there two or three times working out at camp, went on an unofficial, I really wanted to sit down and go over the offense so they were explaining to me how I fit in their system and how it's kind of a perfect fit as far as how they're looking at it."
Costello has also taken multiple trips to USC and admits he was pretty close to a commitment to the Trojans in recent months but decided to hold off. New Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh stopped by Santa Margarita recently and Costello is considering another trip to Ann Arbor in the coming weeks before making a decision.
"(Dylan) Crawford and I really liked Michigan when we were up there," Costello said. "It was definitely one of my favorites while visiting all those schools. I didn't know where they were going with the whole coaching staff.
"Now they have Harbaugh and some big-time coaches surrounding him. I'm definitely interested. He's trying to start something new and build an unbelievable 2016 class and really get things rolling here. He was all fired up and I really dug him. He was cool."
In his junior season, Costello completed 229 of 380 passes for 3,123 yards with 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
