Costello breaks down busy week

Last week was a busy and productive time for 2016 quarterback K.J. Costello as coaches from USC, Tennessee, Penn State and Nebraska stopped by his school.
The Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic standout landed his first offer from Tennessee so he said it was good to finally meet with them face-to-face. A summer trip to Knoxville is definitely under serious consideration.

"Tennessee was pretty cool," Costello said. "It was cool to meet coach (Mike Bajakian). They offered first and that was cool to meet them in person.
"I'm looking to go out to camp or a visit. I really want to see the campus."
USC has not offered Costello, the quarterback MVP at the RCS Northern California, but that coaching staff has been in talks with him for a long time. The 2016 quarterback has a good relationship with position coach Clay Helton as things pick up even more.
"SC just started picking up a lot of interest in the last two weeks," Costello said. "I got out to the spring game and met all the coaches, the new staff, and I thought that was really important to reconnect with the staff.
"I met coach Helton at last year's Rising Stars camp and he told me he really wanted me to come back the following year. We've been talking and I talked to him on the phone the day after he came out and we had a great conversation. He filmed quite a bit of the workout and he's going to bring it to (coach Steve Sarkisian) and he's going to make the final decision from there."
Interest from Penn State and Nebraska is relatively preliminary but Costello wants to see what happens. Former Santa Margarita quarterback Johnny Stanton plays for the Huskers so Costello said he's considering a trip to Lincoln this summer as well.
"Penn State is something new," Costello said. "I've been in contact with coach (Ricky) Rahne for a couple weeks over the phone so it was nice to meet him in person.
"I haven't talked to Nebraska at all. Johnny Stanton is up there now and he loves it so I'll probably head out there sometime to see him. Hopefully, I can contact some of the coaches here pretty soon."
So far, Costello has been offered by Florida State, Miami and Tennessee. Notre Dame and Arizona are showing plenty of new interest.
