Costa talks about Maryland commitment

Delran (N.J.) Holy Cross offensive guard Phil Costa will change positions at his college choice, but that doesn't bother the two-star athlete at all.
"I verbally committed to Maryland during my visit," said the 6-foot-2, 273-pounder. "They've said I'll redshirt for sure the first year and then play center instead of guard like I played in high school. I'm looking forward to it. I liked Coach (Tom) Brattan (the offensive line coach) a lot. The campus was great and the players and coaches I met were people you want to be around. Plus, it is good football in the ACC."

Costa said coach Brattan real made an impression.
"He said he would push me and I like that," Costa said. "He was very straight up through the whole process. I like the way he dealt with me."
Maryland beat out Temple, Villanova and Delaware for the lineman's services. Plenty of schools noticed Costa's skills after he was named all-conference as a sophomore, junior and senior. He did most of that as a guard, but Maryland wants him to play center.
"I'm looking forward to it," Costa said. "I'm going to work with some quarterbacks here to get the timing down. I want to work on that before I get there, so I can start getting ready for the adjustment."
Will Costa do any more looking?
"No this is it," he said. "I'm going to Maryland. I'm glad to have the recruiting process over and be at a place I want to be. It's Maryland for sure."
