Cornerback feels blessed with opportunity

Jared Boyd will be one of the most coveted defensive back prospects from the Peach State. Boyd, 5-10 and 175 pounds, is from Stone Mountain Stephenson High School. Last season this rising senior cornerback recorded 50 tackles, three interceptions and returned three punts for touchdowns.
"I had a successful season," Boyd said. "And we went unbeaten but lost in the playoffs in the second round. I am having a good off-season and things are starting to pick up."

Boyd currently claims seven scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Kentucky (most recent), Middle Tennessee, UCF (first offer), and Georgia Tech.
"This is all a blessing to me. I give God the praise. A month ago I was upset because of the lack of scholarship offers and look at it now. When I came to Stephenson I never thought I would touch the field and now look. Like I said I give God the praise."
So far Boyd has seen Georgia Tech, Auburn, and South Carolina. This weekend he will visit Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State, and Tennessee-Chattanooga this weekend.
"On spring break I am going to Miami to visit the 'U'.
"I am pretty open. I guess I am real open. I don't want to close any doors because I like the way things are going for me right now. Early playing time is big and the most important thing for me. I am looking at the coaching staffs, schemes, and academics."
