Cornell learning a lot

SANTA ANA, Calif. – La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat four-star outside linebacker Jonathan Cornell has made a good impression this week during the practices for Saturday's Air 7 CaliFlorida Bowl. But he said the biggest thing he's taken away from the week of practices is getting meet new people.
"It's been pretty fun," Cornell, who is 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, said.

"It's been fun to hang out and be around a lot of guys I've played against. I finally got to meet and learn from some of the coaches I've played against. It's been a real honor to learn from them. That's been another big thing for me this week."
Cornell said he's also made two new best friends.
"I've really gotten pretty close with Travis (Goethel) and Tobi (Umodu)," Cornell said. "They're really cool guys."
Cornell has been kind of cool about the recruiting process, too. The nation's No. 12 outside linebacker took an official visit to Ole Miss back in mid-November, but since then hasn't really focused much on what his future has in store.
"I'm just hanging out," Cornell said. "I took a visit to Ole Miss, and I take a visit to SC on January 13. Oregon is also there. There are others there, but I can't think about them."
Cornell said in previous updates that he had offers from Ole Miss, Oregon, USC, Arizona State, Kansas, UCLA and Washington. Several of the players on the California team thought Cornell might be a slight lean toward Oregon and USC, but he said he's not so sure about that.
"I like all the schools recruiting me," Cornell said. "It's just going to come down to a gut feeling."
