Cooper claims SEC offer

Wilmington (N.C.) Hobgood Academy offensive guard Jonathan Cooper has added one more offer to his list in the past week. The 6-foot-3, 287-pounder picked up a scholarship from the SEC.
"I did get an offer on Friday from South Carolina," he said. "That's big. I've heard a lot from their coaches and I'm excited about it. I like that they have a big name coach in Steve Spurrier and they play in front of 80,000 people. It's great football there too. I like winning. For a long time, South Carolina was telling me they were going to offer and now they finally did."

Despite the offer from the Gamecocks, Cooper claims there isn't a favorite.
"I don't really have a top school," he said. "I thought it would be clearer now, but it's pretty open. More than likely I'll take official visits."
Before taking any officials, the Tar Heel State lineman plans to take two more unofficials in the coming weeks.
"This Sunday I'm going to Wake Forest and then on the 21st I'm going to North Carolina," he said. "I'm hoping they'll offer me so I have more schools to look at.
"The Wake Forest coaches have already said they will probably offer. I haven't heard much from Chapel Hill."
