Conwell headed to the Big Ten

Upper St. Clair, Pa., linebacker Dane Conwell had a good feeling about the direction of the Indiana football program before he visited the Hoosiers on Friday. The trip sealed the deal for Conwell.
"I made an unofficial visit to Indiana," Conwell said. "They had already offered a scholarship.

"When I got there I met with the dean of the business school. Then I met with the linebackers coach. After that I met with coach (Terry) Hoeppner and coach (Brian) George. They said linebacker is one of their needs and I was one of their guys.
"That solidified things. I committed."
Conwell had also been considering Pitt and West Virginia, but those two schools did not offer.
"I went to their camps," he said. "But Pitt was talking about fullback if they would offer. I didn't want to wait."
The 6-foot-0 and 215-pound Conwell registered nine sacks from his outside linebacker spot during his junior season. He also rushed for 870 yards and scored 11 times.
