Connecticut RB close to big offer

Stamford (Conn.) King & Low Heywood Thomas is home to one of the top running backs in the Class of 2010 in Silas Redd.
The school benefitted greatly from his abilities this past fall when Redd had 120 carries for 1,356 yards and 15 touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds and has gamebreaking ability on both offense and defense.
Given that speed and production it's not surprising that Redd has picked up offers from Boston College, UConn, Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford and Virginia.

A school from the SEC is taking a serious look at Redd and the interest appears to be mutual.
"Well, Florida is a new favorite of mine," Redd said in a recent interview. "I'm almost positive they'll offer soon. I talked to the offensive coordinator, Steve Addazio, and I'm trying to plan a trip down there."
Is there a chance Redd would commit if the Gators extend a scholarship?
"Not right away, but they would definitely move towards the top of my list."
While Florida would be in a great position if they decide to offer, Redd isn't closing the door on the other schools pursuing him.
"I've been getting some handwritten letters from Alabama and Duke," he said. "I'm also training for the NIKE camp on May 2."
