WashingtonClick Here to view this Link.Click Here to view this Link.
Headliner: Record-breaking quarterback Jake Browning of Folsom,
Calif., is on campus and ready to compete for the starting job in the spring. In
16 games this past fall, the four-star prospect completed 69 percent of his
passes for a mind-boggling 5,790 yards and 91 touchdowns. He was intercepted
only seven times in 524 attempts.
Sleeper: If he fills out, Oceanside, Calif., three-star athlete
Jordan Miller has the length and ability to qualify as a steal for the
Huskies. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect is good in coverage and closes on ball
carriers well.
Overview: After losing some top in-state talent in recent years, the
Huskies locked down two of the top three local prospects in defensive end
Benning Potoa'e and cornerback Austin Joyner -- an important step for a
program that's trying to regain prominence. But head coach Chris Petersen did well outside the Evergreen State, too. Aside from Browning,
the Huskies signed four-star linebacker DJ Beavers and talented
receiver Isaiah Renfro.
UtahClick Here to view this Link.Click Here to view this Link.
Headliner: Darrin Paulo is a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive tackle who is arguably one of the best-looking prospects at his position in the 2015 class. One of the needs for Utah was depth along the offensive line and Paulo could provide immediate help, even if he's still just tapping his potential.
Sleeper: George Wilson is a mid-level three-star, which is respectable for any class, but he might even be a little underrated. Wilson is a long, athletic receiver with outstanding hands who can catch really difficult passes. Plenty of other programs tried to sway him leading up to National Signing Day but the Tustin, Calif., standout stuck with the Utes.
Overview: Utah loaded up at positions of need even if it wasn't with high-level four-star prospects. The Utes got what they needed and for that, they have to be pleased. Paulo has the physical tools to be an immediate contributor. The Utes also flipped offensive lineman Johnny Capra from Cal. In-state prospect James Empey and three-star Jake Grant out of Arizona were nice pickups. Utah also did well at the skill positions, whether with Wilson or running back Marcel Brown, or getting three-star WR Alfred Smith out of Destrehan, La. All in all, Utah filled up at positions of need.
ArizonaClick 8Here to view this Link.Click 8Here to view this Link.
Headliner: Offensive tackle Keenan Walker is athletic, moves incredibly well and could anchor the Wildcats' offensive line in the coming years. The three-star will gain more weight and be an important cog in Arizona's fast-paced offense.
Sleeper: Matt Morin was a lefty quarterback coming out of high school with a huge arm who could also run the ball. After quarterback didn't work out and a stint at junior college, Morin has moved to tight end and could be a steal in this Arizona class.
Overview: Coach Rich Rodriguez did a phenomenal job once again of signing outstanding athletes who can be plugged in at different positions. Three-star prospects like Darick Holmes, Anthony Mariscal and others fit that bill well whether they contribute on offense, defense or special teams. Three-star DB Shun Brown is undersized but shined at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and he could be special in Tucson. Cody Creason is a physical interior lineman, Paul Magloire is a physical safety and Walker could be a major contributor on the offensive line. Along with Magloire, Arizona landed many other junior college prospects like Devon Brewer and others who could provide immediate help on both sides of the ball.
Washington StateClick 10Here to view this Link.Click 10Here to view this Link.
Headliner: Four-star prospect Tyler Hilinski might not raise too
many eyebrows given how loaded Southern California was in the quarterback
department in the 2015 cycle, but he's proven to be a consistent performer time
and time again. Though he might not have the arm strength or athleticism of
others, Hilinski is accurate and dissects defenses well, which should work well
in Mike Leach's attack.
Sleeper: The Cougars have utilized River Cracraft very well in
his first two years and might very well have his heir apparent in fellow Santa
Margarita product Kyle Sweet, a three-star receiver who used to play quarterback. Sweet is a smart route runner who's a headache on underneath
routes.
Overview: Washington State suffered some notable de-commitments late,
namely Taeon Mason, Kyahva Tezino and Deontay Burnett, and that took away most of the glimmer off this class. Still,
there are some promising players heading to Pullman. Four-star defensive tackle
Thomas Toki and three-star defensive back Kameron Powell could
plug into the defense this fall, and the Cougars also bring in five junior
college players to add depth.
ColoradoClick Here to view this Link.Click Here to view this Link.
Headliner: Tim Lynott is an in-state offensive lineman who turned down many other programs to stay at home and play for the Buffaloes. The Aurora (Colo.) Regis Jesuit standout is really athletic and tough, plays physically and can play offensive tackle or move inside.
Sleeper: Chris Bounds is a physical, tough kid who was really well-coached at West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade. Plus, he can play multiple positions. Whether it's tight end, moving to the offensive line or playing somewhere on defense, the two-star prospect is someone who will buy into the program and then do everything possible to help the Buffaloes wherever he's needed.
Overview: Four defensive tackles, including three-stars Frank Umu and JUCO Jordan Carrell, are some of the highlights in Colorado's recruiting class -- a point of emphasis for the Buffaloes that got situated. Three-star linebacker N.J. Falo could be a hidden gem in this class. He has been very impressive through the camp circuit. Quarterback Steven Montez put up tremendous numbers in his senior season, so he could get it done at the college level as well. Colorado's recruiting staff did an impressive job recruiting the state of California and then dipping into other places, including in its own state, to land its class.
Oregon StateClick 11Here to view this Link.Click 11Here to view this Link.
Headliner: Salt Lake City-based linebacker Christian Folau was a
major pickup late for new head coach Gary Andersen. The three-star
prospect was originally down to Oklahoma State, Utah and
Wisconsin, but then Andersen left the Badgers and it threw Folau for a
loop. He's a physical tackler that showed nice glimpses at points during Semper
Fidelis All-American Bowl week.
Sleeper: He might only stand at 5-feet-8, but running back Taylor Thomas was hard to chase any time he got the ball at the recent B2G West
Coast Bowl. Thomas is quick and shifty, allowing him to find small spaces and
get to the second level. Getting the Jacksonville, Fla., product to head across
the country was a big win.
Overview: Andersen closed strong, grabbing tight end Noah Togiai,
Treston DeCoud and Simi Moala, plus flipping speedster
Paul Lucas from a commitment to Arizona State. Portland (Ore.) Central
Catholic offensive tackle Blake Brandel, the No. 2-rated prospect in
the state, could be considered another good addition based off how he looked at
the Semper Fi event.
