Coney talks recent Miami visit

On Friday, Plant City (Fla.) quarterback Bennie Coney made his way to the University of Miami for a visit. Coney, who was accompanied by his running back Dazmond Patterson, talked about his time around the Coral Gables campus.
"The trip was awesome," Coney said. "I enjoyed the trip. I got a chance to meet their coaches, especially their head coach (Al Golden) and their offensive coordinator (Jedd Fisch). They gave us a tour around the campus and the football facilities. I also got to talk to a teach around the business program. They showed me a lot about academics. Overall, it was just a great experience."

The highlight of the visit according to Coney was the training facility provided to Hurricanes players.
"I really liked the weight room," Coney said.
During his time on campus, Coney discussed the 'Canes quarterback situation with the staff.
"They told me they aren't where they want to be with quarterbacks," Coney said. "You know, most schools carry five quarterbacks and they don't have that. They told me they want multiple quarterbacks in this class. They also told me if I was ready to come in and work hard, that that would be a great place for me."
At this point in his recruitment, Coney doesn't hold an offer from the ACC program.
"They told me they want to see me at their camp," Coney said. "I am planning to attend one of the camps in June. I plan to go there and earn my offer."
An offer from Miami would quickly elevate them amongst his top schools.
"An offer would mean a lot," Coney said. "They would definitely be one of the schools I would look into."
At this time, Coney claims a top five of Florida State, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Michigan, and LSU.
Coney will now turn his attention to spring football before participating in an Under Armour Combine in Tampa in late May.
