Compton LB seeing stock rise

There is another player from the Beyond 2000 camp to keep your on. He’s strong, aggressive and can hit. Not a bad resume for a linebacker prospect.
Keep your eyes fixed on one of the biggest sleepers on the West Coast, Jonathan Polk (6-0, 235, 4.8) from Compton (Calif.) Dominguez Hills.

Polk was an all-league selection after racking up 85 tackles, five sacks and two fumble recoveries. He has outstanding strength as his 380 pound bench and his 600 pound squat indicates. At one this spring Polk benched 185 pounds, 29 times. He also recorded a 26-inch vertical jump at the Nike camp held at USC last April.
The scouting report on Polk is he makes plays sideline-to-sideline and has great vision. He can find the ball and make the play. Polk is a smart player and has tremendous instincts. Like all great linebackers, Polk loves to hit and mix it up.
How was your experience at Beyond 2000 Elite camp?
“The camp really prepared me for the college game because many of the participants are college recruits,” Polk said. “The competition at the camp was the best of any camp I’ve been to. I had a great time and learned about football that will be able to my senior season.”
The Beyond 2000 Elite facilitator Henry Bell was very impressed. “Jonathan is very fast, no very, very fast,” Bell said. “He is strong as an ox and he was covering all the top receivers. Jonathan walked away from the camp with the Most Outstanding Defensive of Player award.”
What is Polk looking for in a college?
“The academic standing has to be good,” Polk said. “I want to major in sports medicine.”
Polk has the smarts, he carries a 4.5 GPA.
Schools from both coasts are showing interest in Polk. ASU, Oregon, UCLA, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Syracuse are all keeping their eye on the talented linebacker from Compton.
